News from the FarmSummer is our time to shine! We're just getting into our favorite of the growing seasons with plenty of farm fresh local fruits and vegetables. We are or will soon be getting peppers, squash & herbs from Black Creek Heritage Farm in Canal Winchester. Heirloom tomato season is right around the corner! From Sunny Meadows Farm in Canal Winchester we're getting lots of spinach and salad greens. We get lovely herbs from our friend Walter here in Olde Towne East. As part of our new partnership with Shepard's Corner in Blacklick, we get a great variety of vegetables, basically what's left after they leave the downtown Pearl Alley Farmer's Market! Check out the very cool teaching farm and ecology center of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. With all this, I don't even have room to let you know where all our meat and cheese products come from, but you can be sure much of it is Ohio raised/produced! We're involved with many up and coming events, including From Field to Table. This event, presented by Franklin Park Conservatory's Women's Board, celebrates Ohio's bountiful harvest. In its second year, From Field to Table is an al fresco dining experience like no other. Stay tuned for details on how our chef will be participating in the festival. Additionally, we will be doing our own very small and special Dinner in the Fields with Sunny Meadows Farm, prepared by our chefs and catered by our staff. Have you ever eaten a meal in the field where the ingredients were grown? Here's your chance; more details soon to follow! We will also be hosting the Westbridge Camera Club at Black Creek Heritage Farm. This amateur club will be documenting the bounty of the farm for a future gallery show. Finally, Kent was called by the Dave Matthews Band tour people to come and collect their compost after their concert this past week in Columbus. We were glad to be of service! |
